He attended the University of Washington as an undergraduate and received his J.D. from Arizona State University, where he was the managing editor of the Arizona State Law Journal. He is a member and past Chair of the Construction Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association, and is admitted to the Bar of the Eastern and Western District Courts of Washington State, the 9th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals, and the Federal Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
