Bruce Babbitt’s practice encompasses nearly all aspects of construction law and government contracting. He has prosecuted or defended a number of complex cases dealing with highway projects, notably the construction of the I-205 bridge between Portland and Vancouver, Washington.
He has also worked in matters involving sports arenas, resorts, hospitals, airports, port facilities, residential construction, and large construction-defect litigation. A founding member of the firm JBSL, he is also former chairman of the State Bar Association Construction Law Section.
Bruce represents architects, private owners, public agencies, subcontractors, and general contractors in drafting and negotiating contract documents, bid protests, claims, arbitration, mediation, and practice before state and federal courts, including the United States Court of Federal Claims. He also serves the firm as a mediator and arbitrator. Bruce attended the University of Oregon where he received an undergraduate degree in Political Science, and he received his J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University in Chicago. He also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy
